Functional Medicine Offered by Powell Clinic

We offer individually tailored programs to achieve healthy living and promote healthy aging using an approach known as Functional Medicine.

Functional medicine is an integrative, science-based discipline that treats illness and promotes wellness by focusing on the biochemically unique aspects of each patient and then using individually tailored interventions to restore physiological, psychological and structural balance.

Functional medicine is personalized health care that acknowledges the relationship of dysfunction and illness to diet, lifestyle and environment.

The concepts of Functional Medicine, as we apply them in patient care, were founded by Jeffrey Bland, PhD and David Jones, MD in 1993.

Dr. Powell is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and has completed the advanced training offered by this organization.

Dr. Powell Asks some important questions of interest to Downtown Scottsdale residents - Chiropractor Downtown Scottsdale Dr. Powell Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
