Meet the Powell Clinic Team of Scottsdale AZ

Introducing Michelle Gorman

Massage Therapist & Chiropractic Assistant

In addition to managing the office and trying to manage Dr. Powell (which is as effective as herding cats).  I am a licenced Massage Therapist and board certified Chiropractic Assistant.  I am the one who administers the therapies.  I provide muscular trigger point therapy and fascial release treatments to support the healing processes desired.  I also teach the rehab and stabilization components of recovery.  I have had the pleasure of working beside Dr. Powell for the past 14 years,   we all continue to learn together by life experience or attending the many seminars.  We try to pass our knowledge onto our patients.  I find patients arrive at our office stressed or in pain and leave in a much better state.  Often it is remarked by patients that the laughter and peace they feel here is most healing.

My hobbies include: Painting, arts, hiking, gardening and kayaking.

Information Resource

Introducing Charla Mandelaveitia

Having worked with Dr. Powell for 5 years I have had opportunity to see how the choices we make play a significant role in quality of life.  I am inspired everyday, watching our patients improve their lives and those around them.  I mainly work the front desk but also share treatment room duties.  I ensure that your visit is as comfortable and pleasant as possible.  I add a blanket or adjust a pillow as needed.  I am an information resource for you regarding treatment options.  I am fortunate to love my work as much as I love my home life.  I am married, with two daughters, an Australian Shepard, and two cats.

My hobbies include:  Reading, Research, sewing, and spending time outdoors with my dog and husband.

Therapy Dog

Introducing  Maggie Rose.

I was born on May 1st. 2006.  I was picked to go to Arizona to fill the heart of a special doctor who has an empty lap.  I knew this was the job for me.  She and her husband picked me up Sept. 4th 2006, it was love at first sight and sniff.  At home I have 2 German Shepherds to keep me in line, work is another story!  My days are filled with patients to greet and make smile, and a staff (Michelle and Charla) to keep on their toes with walks, toys and kisses.  All which I have earned!  I am on a special diet and can not receive treats, but cuddles and hugs are always welcome.  See you at my office.

Hobbies include:   Playing fetch, pulling the stuffing out of expensive toys, hanging on Woody's tail, and taking naps.

Dr. Powell Asks some important questions of interest to Scottsdale residents - Chiropractor Scottsdale Dr. Powell Asks...

How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Scottsdale chiropractic practice.
